Alot of nonsense floats around the news this time of year. Media agents everywhere are busy speculating, trying to beat each other to the hot gossip surrounding summer transfers.
The latest and most far-fetched by far though, has come out today.
Apparently Real Madrid are looking to sell Michael Owen, and are looking to his old Premier League for bites. Owen had been linked to Newcastle and Man USA recently, with whispers of Chelsea scattered here and there. However, suddenly Real Madrid are looking to nick Frank Lampard in return for Michael Owen.
We all know how true that rumour must be.
The media may be playing on the drama surrounding Lampard's recent break-in and the affect it had on him and his fianceé -- one story quoted Mrs.Lamps as stating that she wanted to go back to Spain where it was safer.
But let's not forget that to so many, Lampard is Chelsea. He lives and breathes the club and just bought a new home with his pregnant fianceé in West London. He is a fan favourite, a management favourite and a journalist favourite as well. He has it made with Chelsea.
And Chelsea would be foolish to give him up. So they won't.
Now if they really want Owen, there are a few other players they could swap him for, no doubt. Lampard is not one of them.
Don't these newspapers have anything else to talk about?
Our Verdict: It won't happen.
