Arsenal don't like us. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. They never have, and the whole Cole-gate mess didn't help matters. Thing is, we don't really have a taste for them either.
Their players tend to be rather garrulous, and their leader, Wenger, seems to pontificate more than anyone else in the western world, spouting out self righteous nonsense at every opportunity.
And just when you thought he was the only manager to rival Ferguson in child-like tantrums over Chelsea's ample transfer budget and the like, enter Rafa Benitez.
Benitez, who managed to stay silent through most of the season while others bristled at Mourinho's press conference banter, has now sussed out English football and joined ranks with the others in condemning Chelsea.
Mourinho recently took a shot at Stevie Gerrard's about face regarding his future, when the 'Pool captain decided not to move to Chelsea post-offer-on-table, stating that it was a bad move for Gerrard's career. The Special One stated that in 10 years, he and Gerrard would sit down and compare trophies, and Mourinho would come out the winner.
Benitez took offence to the comments and said that Liverpool are a more important team now, an improved team. Odd. Not much has changed in their squad has it? Their captain is the same, the coaching staff are the same. Not sure what has changed.
Benitez went on to say that Chelsea must be worried, or we wouldn't be talking about them. Worried no, amused most definitely.
Thing is, we can just add Benitez to the list of Premier League managers frustrated at their team's inability to perform in top flight football now that some real competition has stepped into the ring. Essentially, all he has done is increased our collection of adversaries.
But they don't really matter do they? Not according to Mourinho. In order to care, in order for another person or group of people to matter, you have to have a relationship. True enough. Charismatic as ever "Zé".
