Thank You Jose- it's been a slice

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho parted company yesterday, a thought that has never crossed the minds of Chelsea fans.

The club is calling it a mutual split, but speculation abounds as to the source of the split - did Jose walk out on us? Did the club encourage the departure?

Some hold that Jose walked away from the Club, perhaps out of frustration at the seemingly endless arguments and tension between himself and Roman Abramovich; everyone has their break point. Yet there are those who indicate that just yesterday at the screening of Blue Revolution, Jose was upbeat and chatty, giving no indication of the pending decision.

Others think that Jose was ousted - recent exclusions of Shevchenko and the media-fuelled Ballack drama are being cited as examples; in this case the break point belongs to the Club. Some point to the recent win-drought that the Blues are facing as another reason.

Reaction from fans and media alike is one of disbelief. Some hide behind the veil of inevitability, claiming that Roman was unhappy with the style of football being played.

But very few people would have believed me 2 days ago if I was to tell them that Jose wouldn't be with Chelsea by the end of the week.

There is a worry that Rui Farria and Co will walk away as well, leaving the club in a terrible mess. And others fear that key players who are loyal to Mourinho will depart as well -- Lampard, Drogba, Carvalho, Ferreira are all cited in rumours circulating.

The Club and Mourinho are for now remaining tight-lipped about the whole thing - the statement on ChelseaFC.com is little more than a few words long.

All that really needs to be said, is Thank You Jose! It's been a slice.
