Clarke to make Bridge Exit

Newsnow
Assistant Manager Steve Clarke is expected to issue a further blow to Chelsea this week by stepping down from his position after the Valencia match on Wednesday.

The rumour comes hot on the heels of a miserable match at Stamford Bridge where Blues fans jeered Avram Grant, Chelsea's "Caretaker" Manager and booed Andriy Shevchenko off the pitch.

Many held that Steve Clarke was a more likely successor to Jose Mourinho; he was expected by some to be the caretaker in Mourinho's absence and there were many who were surprised that he was not automatically selected.

Perhaps fans were not the only ones surprised by the appointment of Grant.

It is thought that Clarke would simply be stepping down from his role, and would stay on with Chelsea in a new capacity.

In addition to this, or perhaps in place of the Clarke rumour, is chat that Grant will be leaving his role as CareTaker for Chelsea by the end of November.
Our Verdict: Clarke in, Avram out?
