Rumours of Drogba's impending departure have been flying since last summer, when the Ivorian striker made a statement that he would like to go back to Marseilles. The departure of Mourinho only hieghtened those rumours - could Scolari's arrival be the final nail?
Latest media hype states that Scolari wants to sell Drogba. But the premise is odd - the story goes that Scolari wants to sell the striker to add cash to the kitty.
Doesn't that seem a little odd? When Scolari's impending arrival was first announced, the tongues were wagging that Abramovich would be handing him all kinds of cash to bring top talent to the club. Now those same media outlets are reporting that the reason Drogba is to be sold is for additional cash?!
If nothing else, this latest rumour is clever, playing on the long-muttered rumour that Drogba was unhappy at Chelsea, unhappy with Mourinho's departure, unhappy with Grant and wanting to return to France. But it lacks a bit of substance doesn't it?
The rumour that has been passed onto Chelsea Rumours is quite the opposite - our sources tell us that Drogba will be staying at Chelsea and that Eto'o will be joining him shortly. This certainly would facilitate Scolari's well known 2 prong strike force he is so fond of.
Add to this strike force Deco in the midfield alongside Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack and suddenly Chelsea has an attack to be reckoned with again!
